I would just like to make it known that I find it absolutely disgusting when people at the gym don't disinfect their equipment when done using it, especially the cardio machines. I mean you spend 30 minutes sweating all over the damn thing and then you don't clean it (and you know who you are). GROSS! I was running one day next to a doctor from the clinic I go to and sure enough, when he was done, he walked away and never cleaned it...come on dude, you are supposed to be a freaking doctor!
That is all...

Finding My Inner Creative Goddess
For my dad's birthday, I bought him an empty scrapbook with a promise to scrap together our family photos currently residing in boxes. Since my dad has everything he could ever want, I thought this would be a very personal and heartfelt gift. I mean how hard could it be?
Well, It is not as easy as it may look. There is a lot to scrap booking. You have your pictures and paper and matting paper, embellishments, paper cutters, glue, and just a whole mess of whatnot that turns your pictures into art and it is up to you to assemble them in a eye flattering fashion. I have not done something too creative since I had to decorate my house, but that is a bit different. I'm finding great difficulty in getting my creative juices flowing...I think I need help. So far though, I must say that I really like it. It is helping find my inner creative goddess...that's a good thing, I like her :)

1 (800) Hold-Please
OMG! This weekend was a telephone nightmare. Casey and I got new cell phones; he upgraded to a blackberry and I made the switch to Sprint after being a long time US Cellular customer (I must say that so far I am not impressed). I was finally able to pick his up on Friday (it had to be reshipped because the first one was stolen) and as soon as I got it home Casey wanted to play with it. Of course, it is a new toy. Well, we couldn't seem to get the Internet working. We tried and tried and it wasn't happening. So I put the little disk they give you into my computer hoping that it would magically give me the answers only to find out my disk drive was not working. So first I tried Toshiba tech support and the line was actually busy! It was busy the 24 times I tried it, which really pissed me off. Then I called Sprint tech support and was on hold for an hour and at that point I gave up. I was really tired. First thing in the morning I tried again. While on hold, thanks to the invention of speaker phone, I was able to get the dishes and laundry done and make Casey breakfast. Finally I reached a live body who was great, I think his name was Jason, and he had the patients of a saint and he fixed my problem. That, however was not the end of it. My husband was flying to Arcata that day and as it turn out, on Horizon Airlines. Since they have grounded the majority of their planes, we needed to find out his flight status and according to the Internet, the was no such flight. Everyone else must have had the same idea because we spent and hour on hold to find out if he was flying or not. GRRRR! Companies need to know that there is a nifty technological advance that allows them to hold your place in line as if you were holding but instead of actually holding, it automatically calls you back when it is almost your turn...

Oh Rodeo!
Labor Day weekend, our last big hoo rah for the summer; we went to E-burg for rodeo and it was a blast. My poor husband had to drive all day from California to get home and as soon as he did, we left for the other side of the mountain with me driving, HA. I have the worlds worst road rage on long road trips and I have no patients for holiday drivers...I wanna go fast. By the time we arrived, my husband was totally ready to be out of the truck and away from my insanity and I had serious muscle cramps in my back and in desperate need of a cocktail.
I had barely set foot on E-burg soil when I was greeted by one of our gracious hosts who assured me that he would take care of setting up my camp while I went and found some beer and the girls. I don't think I was in the house for more than a minute when a barrage of beautiful people came clamoring at me. (You see, the rodeo tradition has gone on for years and this was the first time I was able to make it). All my girlfriends looking their finest clad in cowboy boots and hats and alcohol induced ear to ear grins were suffering from a mix of shock, disbelief, and excitement at my arrival. I was informed of their plan to go dancing behind the chutes and urged to go change my clothes and get my ass in the car. Quick like a bunny I bounded to the truck in search of jeans and boots, threw them on, downed a couple beers and piled into the car.
I was a little confused when we arrived at our destination...we were at a fair. Low and behold, we were literally going BEHIND THE CHUTES of the rodeo. It was a kick in the pants. Live band, beer garden, but most importantly, I was able to rock my inner cowgirl. Very funny things happened behind the chutes, Donna for no reason started dumping water down Cheryl's shirt repeatedly, Jason was kicked out for being too drunk and his poor wife had to babysit him while poor prego Amie had to come pick them up, Michelle taking her sweet time and somebody telling her "it's not that big a deal Michelle, bamanos", Michelle telling someone they looked "borderline amazing!" (does not sound that funny now but let me tell you, it was hilarious) and there was just so much more!!! When we were reading to go, Amie had to come and pick our entire group up and we amazingly enough fit 13 people into a Honda Pilot, at least Maica and I were in the front seat with a seat belt on. Upon arrival we spilled out of the car and many of us went to bed, I stayed up for a little while to socialize with those who stayed behind.
Tim was in prime form...he was sleeping when Casey and I showed up but he was wide awake and ready to party at midnight. I fell asleep while listening to Timmy and a few others having a screaming contest. Nick and Michelle's poor neighbors!
The next morning I awoke to a chorus of farting from the gentleman and conversations about going to Bi-Mart. Random. I reluctantly got out of bed only because I had to pee. What a rancid adventure that was... a dozen guys after a night of drinking, what is with that anyway? I laid around and slept most of the day nursing my hangover and while I did not feel too awful, I had cramps and a general fog that kept me from tying one on again. That night there was a ton more funny that happened. Michelle was given a little notebook so we decided to record funny memories (this blog is getting long so I'll recap) Scott shooting the bow in his boxers, Cherie and Tim drunk on the boat at 6am, Tim almost dying on the boat at 7 am, Tim joking about wearing a cape and none of us saying anything, Tim asking Chris and Elissa if they met while picking out hair dye and who knows what else I missed, I went to bed early. Casey and I woke up at 5:30 and busted outta there so he could go back to work.
IT WAS A BLAST!!! Thank you Nick and Michelle for your hospitality and thank you to everyone else for the gut wrenching laughter, weeks later, I am still laughing!

ARGH!!
Today is Friday right before a three day weekend and I should be totally elated; I'm not. I'm frickin' crabby pants. I'm not exactly sure where it all started but I think it was last night when I was trying to give myself a french manicure...
Let me set the stage by backing up a touch. I used to be a daily nail biter. Disgusting, I know. But that is just how it has been for almost 20+ years of my life. I'm not sure what age I was when I started but I can imagine I was pretty young). Two weeks ago I quit; I am just totally tired of stubby, jagged, crooked ugly nail beds and I hate wearing acrylics. I think they look trashy. Well not always and not on everybody but certainly on me since they have to make them super thick because I have no nail (I must be really crabby, I am irritated just telling this story). so anyways here I am with some nails that aren't too bad looking. I thought I would try my hand at prettying them up by doing the whole french manicure thing. I had all the right equipment, the white polish, the pink polish, and those little half moon sticky strips that are supposed to make it look all professional even though it was done by an amateur like me. So I did all the prep work that a manicure entails and I taped of the tips of my nails with those little strippy things and got down to painting. It was so easy...it seemed nearly impossible to screw it up. I painted all my tips and then set about letting them dry before I removed the strips as per the direction. Well, after like 15 minutes they still weren't totally dry. What the hell? It is not like I painted it super thick or anything. Then I noticed that the strips had started to curl up and not stay in place on my nail so when I removed the strips, the white polish had leaked down underneath it. And the white polish was nasty! It was like using white out to paint your nails. There was nothing smooth and creamy about it. It was tacky and gummy. I got out the polish remover, took everything off and started over taking great care to make sure the strips were really stuck in place preventing all leakage. I even let them dry for like 30 minutes this time. SAME DAMN THING! I was so fricking pissed off. That was a huge waste of my time. So yes, I think my pissy mood started here.
After the manicure fiasco, I decided I was throwing in the towel and going to bed. I turned on the TV (I have to sleep with it on when Casey is not home) and of course there was nothing on. TV is such a waste anyhow. There is hardly anything good on ever and yet I always have it on so I don't feel alone. I couldn't get comfortable so I tossed and turned, tried to read my book, tried to sleep, tried reading again, and so on and so forth. Nothing worked and I was up until midnight or so. Once I fell asleep, I couldn't seem to stay asleep. I kept waking up and repeating the tossing and turning. When I finally did role out of bed this morning, I discovered that I was out of coffee. That pretty much set me over the edge and I threw a full on temper tantrum with my cat as a witness. My morning continued with me not finding anything to wear that made me happy and so I had to settle. I couldn't manage to get out the house in time to stop and get some coffee so here I am, not caffeine, not enough sleep and pissed off at the world.

Over-Stimulation
Yesterday was one of the very rare occasions in our little PNW town that temperatures reach as high as 90. It was fantastic! Even though I sat at my little desk all day at work looking longingly out the window, I at least could enjoy that. After work I went to spinning class, which deserves a whole bog in itself, and did a little circuit training at the meat market we call our gym. After kicking my own ass for 90+ minutes I went over to my dear friend Margaux's house for some grillin and chillin. She is amazing! She makes the very best bacon wrapped scallops ever and she made them last night. She made so much food! We had shrimp and salmon, grilled sweet onions, guac dip, yummy Tillamook extra sharp white cheddar cheese to pair with our wine. Oh yeah, and then there was the wine! Margaux shared with us a bottle of Erath Dry Riesling she and her husband brought back from wine tasting, as well as a extra yummy Duck Pond Sangiovese.
Well from the combination of the post-work out elation I was still feeling, the full stomach from the delicious array of culinary fireworks, the ever so slight buzz from sipping on some amazing vinos, and the warm sticky air with the gentle cool breeze, I was over-stimulated. I went home and fell asleep with a smile on my face.
Thanks Margaux!

So much Stuff!!!
For me, there is nothing like the coming of crisp fall air and stylish glossy fashion magazines to make me want to clean. You are thinking "WHAT? WHY?" and "what is the correlation there?" Well I will tell you. Fall is my favorite season ever, especially here in the PNW. I love the weather, crisp in the morning, warm during the day and crisp and clear at night and if it rains, who cares...I am tired of watering my flowers anyhow. It is just a nice excuse to make a yummy dinner in the crockpot and curl up with a good book so I can enjoy the smell of my impending feast. I love the fashion! I am not a big shorts and tank top kinda gal...they just aren't that glamorous. There is just something about sweaters and tights and pumps that just get my heart pumping. The fabrics and textures and delish as well as the color palette. It just makes me so damn happy.
Well, for to me enjoy any of this wonderment that is a Pacific Northwest Fall, I need things clean. A cluttery house is not a cozy house even with a crockpot full of goodness and a page turner of a novel. I want spic and span; I want to know what I have. Unlike most people who do spring cleaning...I do fall cleaning. I clean out all of my drawers, cabinets, and closets and throw out EVERYTHING I don't need.
Such was the task at hand yesterday. I started with the basics, dishes, vacuuming, laundry and what not but then I proceeded to go deeper. I have two hall closets that have tons of space. I get rushed and usually start cramming things into these closets just for the sake of keeping the area you see clean. So my "catch all" closet was the biggest chore of them all. It is my axillary pantry, liquor cabinet, gift closet, china cabinet, and space to store anything I bulk in bulk such as toothpaste and deodorant or what ever. There was so much stuff crammed in there I had no idea what I even had. I found that I do not need to buy deodorant for quite sometime as I seemed to have stocked up at some point.
I moved on into my master bath and OH MY FREAKING GOD!!! I had Victoria Secret body lotions from like, 1999 that I had maybe used once or twice, hair accessories fit for a junior high school cheerleader, and all kinds of other potions and lotions that I have bought because they promised miracles and didn't do squat. I threw it all away (with the exception of a couple of hair things that my cousin Kate might enjoy...I liked them to much to destine them to a life in a garbage heap).
The day continued on this way, me throwing out receipts, and papers, and pens with dried up ink and I was really overwhelmed my the amount of shit I had accumulated. Especially considering that I just went through this whole operation in the spring...
